Winter Park played Metro Conference opponent Cypress Creek High School Tuesday night at Showalter field. The Cypress Creek Bears entered the contest with a record of 5-5. The Wildcats got off to a quick start when senior Gabby Tabares scored in the 2nd minute of the match with an assist from freshman Katie Robinson. Senior Joelle Hardy would find the back of the net in the 10th minute on another Robinson assist. Junior McKenna Singhofen scored in the 28th minute with an assist from senior Karina Groff. In the 28th minute senior Regan Staudt scored on a direct free kick from 25 yards out. Singhofen would score again in the 33rd minute off another assistance from Groff. Karina Groff would score herself in the 34th and 39th minute. Groff’s second goal came off an assist from junior Kelly O’Grady. The Wildcats went into half-time with a 7-0 lead. The Wildcat mid-field, anchored by sophomore Jessica Dolle, put on impressive showing and controlled the mid-field throughout the first half. Three minutes into the second half, Junior Gaby Ruela scored on a 25 yard strike. The match was ended in accordance with FHSAA’s mercy rule. Winter Park improved to 5-1-1 in the Metro Conference and 8-5-1 overall. The Wildcats’s Senior Night is this Thursday at Showalter.
