Girls Varsity Soccer played Colonial High School at Showalter Field Monday night in the quarter-final round of the district tournament. Winter Park entered the evening as the number one seed and their performance Monday night lived up to their ranking. The Wildcats scored four goals in the first 14 minutes of the contest. Winter Park would add goals in the 26th, 28th, 46th, and 52nd minute. The match was called in the 52nd minute in accordance with FHSSA’s mercy rule. Senior Ellie Moreno had two goals and two assist. Senior Ansley Frazier had a goal and four assists. Also scoring for the Wildcats were junior Karina Groff, sophomore Kelly O’Grady, sophomore McKenna Singhofen, and junior Joelle Hardy. The defensive back line for the Wildcats, senior Emily Hale, senior Lindsey Dolle, junior Carly Tabares, and senior Alex Granville, shut down Colonial ‘s offensive attack holding them to one shot on goal for the match. Winter Park plays Lake Nona at 5:30 pm on Wednesday at Timber Creek High School in the semi-final match of the district tournament.
